WAKO, the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations, is a member of the International Olympic Committee where it represents various disciplines of amateur kickboxing from pointfighting to fullcontact and ringsports. The sport has developed from karate, taekwondo, boxing and muay thai with influences from people such as Bruce Lee and Jhoon Rhee. WAKO’s most influential people in the past were founder Georg F. Bruckner and Mike Anderson as well as long-time sitting president Ennio Falsoni. It’s trademark is a fair and well protected, standardized mode of competition with rankings and championships on national and international levels.
